The dreaded kservice.exe....

The information given in this blog entry is given freely, in good faith and Rossfix cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury as a result of following or using the information given. By reading this blog you agree to this statement.

kservice.exe how to deal with it!

This is the first fix and its a good one.....XP or Vista

BBC I player, 4od, Sky, and some others use a program called
Kontiki...Most of the time this behaves its self and everything is OK.
On some machines it doesn't, which causes the processor to run at
100%. This makes the machine seem incredibly slow (put the kettle
on slow) and guess what...it can't easly be removed..There's no
uninstall for it! Removing the 4od or BBC I player will not stop it!

To check and see if this is affecting you, do the following:

Press ctrl alt and delete together, this brings up the
Windows Task Manager. Click on the processes tab and then
click on the CPU tab once then once again. At the top (or near it)
should be kservice.exe and it will probably be running at 99 percent!
Close the Windows Task Manager.

How to fix it!

Click start (or the windows symbol) and click control panel
Double Click administrative tools then services
In services scroll down until you find K Service, then double
click on it. Change the Startup type to disabled and click OK to save

Then close services and administrative tools

That's it! The PC processor will no longer run at 100%!!
This also works for all logins, so you don't have to repeat the
process for each Login.

All this has achieved is to switch off kservice.exe. If you need it
started again, simply go to the services section and switch it back
on again. You might need to do this for films etc!

If you like this fix, leave me a comment, any constructive criticism
is gratefully received!
Thanks
